Dickinson County Endowment Fund Awards 2023 Grants

 The Dickinson County Endowment Fund, in support of eighteen projects led by Dickinson County non-profit organizations, has distributed grants totaling $123,751.95. 

Chairman Sue Blake recognized the 2023 Advisory Council, which is made up of volunteers who broadly represent the County’s residents: Evan Bensley – Lake Park, Sue Blake – Spirit Lake, Sandi Bueltel – Superior, Greta Gruys – Spirit Lake, Cheryl Hessenius – Wahpeton, Jim Kennedy – Okoboji, Dawn Matthews – Terril, Annie Wasson – Milford, and Marilyn Vos – Arnolds Park. 

DCEF Council Advisor Ann Ditsworth also noted, “The Council thoughtfully reviews and considers each application and its impact for our citizens. It is rewarding to see how our Non-profit organizations continually strive to serve the diverse needs and opportunities throughout the county. We’re excited to support these many positive projects in our communities.”

  • Dickinson County Museum, Bringing the Depot to LIFE, $12,429.40
  • UDMO – Head Start, Creating Healthy Early Learning Environments, $5,946.98
  • Elderbridge Agency on Aging, Congregate & Home-delivered Meals, $5,000.00
  • American Legion Post 384, Milford Boy Scout Tent project, $5,500.00
  • Seasons Center for Behavioral Health, Family Wellness Baskets, $1,000.00
  • Harris-Lake Park Elementary School, Playground Revival, $2,433.35
  • Friends of Milford Library Fdn, Yearbook Digitization, $2,500.00
  • Humane Society of Northwest Iowa, Dog Kennel & Training Renovation, $15,000.00
  • Pearson Lakes Art Center, Youth – Senior Arts Programming, $6,610.00
  • Okoboji Performing Arts, Youth Performing Arts Ed Programming, $6,000.00
  • Okoboji Middle School, Reading is Dynamic, $2,000.00
  • Voluntary Action Center, Meals on Wheels Subsidized Meals, $18,000.00
  • No Boundaries MS – OMS, Leaving a Legacy 5.0, $10,000.00
  • Harris-Lake Park CSD, Lighting at City Park & Athletic Fields, $15,000.00
  • Conservation Fdn of Dickinson Cnty, Shades for Maser Monarch Lodge, $5,000.00
  • Atlas of the Lakes Area, Benevolence Need of Atlas Ministry, $5,000.00
  • Next Life Foundation, First Aid Education, $832.22

In eighteen years of grant making, Dickinson County Endowment Fund has provided funding support totaling $1,748,410. We have collaborated with 98 Dickinson County Nonprofit Organizations and each School District by awarding grants 427 projects affecting every community in the County.
