Dickinson County Endowment Fund Awards Special Project Grants: Spirit Lake Schools

In 2023, the Advisory Council awarded $123,751 and also chose to make four Special Project Grants. All agreed that one way to continue our focus of ‘making broad impacts throughout the County’ would be to work with our schools. Each District was contacted to consider projects that would have direct student impact and submitted their unique ideas for funding.

Representing Spirit Lake Schools, Principal Jessica Vancura and Elementary Teachers Michelle Black and Lucas Doxtad are pictured accepting a BIG check from Greta Gruys, Evan Bensley & Jim Kennedy DCEF Council Advisors. Spirit Lake will use their $2500 grant to add a permanent shade canopy in the Elementary outdoor classroom. This established teaching space has proven to be a great way to engage students in “real life, hands on” learning. This addition will extend the use of this area by TK thru 4th grade students.

Year after year the Dickinson County Endowment Fund Advisory Council and staff are inspired by the passion for ‘continual improvement’ shown by our nonprofits and school districts!
Thank you for your efforts!
