The Dickinson County Endowment Fund, in support of fourteen projects led by Dickinson County non-profit organizations, has distributed grants totaling $103,739.
DCEF Council Advisor Ann Ditsworth recognized the 2025 Advisory Council, which is made up of volunteers who broadly represent the County’s residents: Chairman Evan Bensley – Lake Park, Vice Chairman Marilyn Vos – Arnolds Park, Treasurer Dawn Matthews – Terril, Secretary Megan Helgeson – Wahpeton, Jessica Garberding – Spirit Lake, Tim O’Hagan – Spirit Lake, Kara Rice – Milford, Ryan Schmidt – Okoboji and Erica Schultes – Superior.
Ditsworth also noted, “The Council thoughtfully reviews each application and its impact for our citizens. It is very rewarding to see how our Non-profit organizations continually strive to serve the many diverse needs throughout the county. We’re excited to support the following positive projects in our communities:”

- Dickinson County Museum – Bathroom & Utility upgrade: $6,650.00
- Dickinson County EMS Assn – Building Improvement: $8,642.00
- Graettinger Terril Parent Teacher Organization – Gym Traverse Rock Wall: $10,639.00
- Iowa Great Lakes Fishing Club – Dickinson County Kids Fish Day $2,500.00
- Ladies of the Lake – DAR – Informational signs – SL Massacre Markers: $6,103.98
- Lutheran Lakeside Camp – CampCare: $6,082.91
- Seasons Center – Dickinson County Office – AED: $1,731.00
- Spirit Lake Elementary School PIE – Play it Forward – Elementary Playground: $8,643.00
- UDMO – Milford Head Start – Outdoor Play: Sensory & Motor Development: $5,247.59
- Veteran’s Memorial of Dickinson County – Veteran’s Memorial Relocation project: $5,000.00
- Voluntary Action Center – Subsidized Meals on Wheels $5,000.00
In twenty years of grant making, Dickinson County Endowment Fund has provided funding support totaling $1,973,843. We have collaborated with 104 Dickinson County Nonprofit Organizations and each School District by awarding grants 450 projects affecting every community in the County.
